Laude tops National Open Darts qualifying event

-

Cebuano Roy Laude took home the crown he missed last year after topping the singles event in the DCP-SCUDA National Open Darts Championships qualifying tournament over the weekend in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Laude, who finished only third last year, was joined in the winners’ podium by fellow Cebuano William Encorporado, who round up fourth place overall.

Thus, Laude made it to the top eight in the premiere National Open singles later this year together with the newcomer Raymund Solas.

On the other hand, Laude and two other Cebuanos landed in the top five of the three-man team competition even as they were grouped with non-Cebuano players.

Engr. Wennie Ocañada along with Toto Meniolas and Elpy Dela Cerna came out third, while Sgt.Boi Calma, Alvin Villa and Wencel Georsua were fourth placers. Laude together with Gino Amantillo and Dodong Lumantao finished fifth.

Alvin Villa, who is also from Cebu, came out second in the doubles event with JR Manayon. They bowed to Arnel Orteza and Melvin Adeva.

Another Cebuano Warlito Villaros and partner Eric Oclavit finished third, while Bert Colong Jr.and Ritchie Peñalosa settled for sixth place. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
