USPF belles start title bid in Shakey’s Volleyball Tournament of Champions

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation spikers hope to finally get the crown denied of them last year when the 2007 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League (GVL) Tournament of the Champions begins today at the University of St.La Salle gym in Bacolod City.

USPF coach Jordan Paca is confident on their winning chances when they tackle the best of Luzon, National Capital Region, Iloilo and Bacolod for overall supremacy.

The USPF belles silenced all their opponents during the Cebu elimination last month, showing how much they wanted to be in the National finals again.

Although some of their reliables have already graduated, coach Paca is not bothered at all as the replacements got a much-needed exposure via the Palarong Pambansa ni Koronadal last summer.

Composing the USPF fighting force this time are Aileen Singson, Jessah Mae Nacorda, Kaisse de los Santos, Danika Gendrauli, Apple Eve Saraum, Charrylou Wave Paden, Jinky Garidos, Jennielou Fernn Villeguez, Rhea Jane Taculod, Judy Diane Navaja, Sharry Mae Sereno and Louise Gabriel.

USPF had a chance to clinch the national title last year, but its spirit was dampened when its top blocker Jane Garrido sustained an injury in their championship match against the University of the East (UE). — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
