Young-Havili tandem wins second edition of ABF-CSMA quarterly badminton tilt

Lawrence Young and Rodel Havili of ABF-Lapu-Lapu clobbered Cresencio Tiong and Reymond Wega of ABF-Rajah Humabon in straight sets to win the Class E crown of the second edition of the Architects Badminton Federation (ABF)-Cebu Sports Media Association (CSMA) Quarterly Tournament last Sunday at the Racquet Zone of Montebello Villa Hotel in Brgy. Apas, this city.

Young and Havili bested Tiong and Wega in the first set, 21-16, and then prevented their foes from forging a rubbermatch by sweeping the second set after a slide, 22-20.

In Class F, Hanford Wong, a guest player for Rajah Humabon, and partner Kris Zalavaria blended well to frustrate their teammates RJ Damole and Michelle Flores in the finals.

Wong and Zalavaria grabbed the top post with a 31-17 victory over Damole and Flores in this event supported by Avia, Moldex, Republic Powercoat of Cebu,Durabend, Filmon Hardware, Cebu Home Builders, Edcon Glass and Aluminum and Racquet Zone.

The championship in Category F was played for only one set due to time constraints according to event organizer Alan Choachuy of Big Al’s Productions.  — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
