Customs Police clinches final ticket in C.E.B.U. cage event

Customs Police blasted MJDL, 75-44, to clinch the first final seat in the 35-above class of the Customs Employees and Brokers Union (CEBU) - 2007 Collector’s Cup basketball tournament at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

MJDL took a hairline lead, 21-20, at the end of the first period, but suddenly suffered an offensive meltdown, allowing Customs Police to stage a crippling rally.

So hot Customs Police was that it built a 25 point-plus advantage on several occasions in the final quarter leading to a 31-point blowout.

The triumvirate of Cris De Gracia, Jojo Lozano and Junard Cabahug played the key role for the Policemen’s victory with 11 markers each.

Dodong Commendador, on the other hand, was the lone double-digit scorer with 10 for MJDL of Mike Logarta.

The Gino Minguillan-mentored Customs Police will face next the winner of the other semifinal battle between CCUPA and District Collector’s Office (DCO) this Friday.

In the 35-below division, the younger MJDL won by default over Marty Pimentel’s RMP Customs Brokerage. Thus, MJDL set up a championship showdown against MEDMA of Customs Brokers Family.
