Lawman probed for alleged human trafficking

Sally Mae and Niño Siso completed a grand slam as Fritz Satera joined them in the winner’s row at the close of the Prince 03 Next Gen Age-Group Tennis tournament at the Casino Español yesterday.

Sally Mae of University of San Carlos South Campus was the biggest winner of the day as she bagged back-to-back titles in the 14 and 16-under divisions.

She defeated Cindy Gerapusco, 6-0, 6-0, to pocket the title in the 14-under division and extended her dominance in the 16-under class with another impressive 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Eloisa Collo.

The titles were Sally Mae’s third straight after ruling the Gullas Cup and the HeadPenn Age-Group Tennis tournaments held here in Cebu City this month.

Her elder brother, Niño, also scored back-to-back titles after taking the crown in the 14-under division over Christian Paul Cabahug, 6-3, 6-4.

Niño, also of USC-South Campus, was the champion in the 14-under of the HeadPenn tennis.

On the other hand, Satera of Our Lady of Pilar Academy in Sibonga survived a tough match to claim the title in the boy’s 12 and under division.

Satera dropped the first set, 0-6, but recovered on time to finish off Kurt Gerapusco, 6-4, 13-11.

The title in the distaff side went to Palarong Pambansa 2007 medalist Crissianne Issa Kintanar of Cebu Province, who beat Kylle Longakit, 6-1, 6-3.

But the victory of Kintanar followed after she settled for runner-up honors in the 10-under unisex, bowing to Vince Marc Tabotabo of Tuburan, 6-2, 6-1.

In the 16-under division for boys, Jayvee Canor lorded it over Lowel Lloyd Cañete, 6-4, 6-7 (10-7) to win the title.

Also, Arafura Games medalist Kristel Mae Buenacosa of USC defeated Eloisa Collo, 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 to clinch the crown in the 18-under for girls as Larry Antigua of University of the Visayas dumped Ryan Repunte, 6-4, 6-4, to win the boy’s title. — Rafael S. Alas III and Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
