A lawn tennis player from the municipality of Sibonga will strut his wares in the 12th Gullas Cup set from May 19 to 23 at the Cebu Country Club tennis courts.
A member of the CVIRAA team that bagged silver medal in the Palarong Pambansa elementary boys division, Fritz Satera of Our Lady of Pilar Academy is set to vie for top honors in one of the age group classes of the Gullas Cup.
Satera saved Central Visayas from being booted out in the early rounds of the team competition when he won the deciding singles match against Jealeardo Amazona of Southern Mindanao, 8-2.
Jacob Lagman won his first singles match against James Sumaylo, 8-0, but the tandem of Vibieno Marie Buslon and John Marie Gelbolingo dropped their game to Joel Cabusas and Aldwin Ben Libaton, 7-8.
It was then that Satera, a Grade 4 student, came to the rescue by winning his crucial match against Amazona to vault Central Visayas into the next round. - Rafael S. Alas III
