3 more corporate sponsors back up M. Lhuillier volleyball

Three more private entities have joined the wagon of corporate sponsors backing up the 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Open Volleyball for men and women, which will take off at 1 pm on April 28 at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Main gym.
The latest supporters of the event organized by the M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation (MLSDF) through its executive director Eddie B. Ybañez are the Atrhro Kontra Arthritis of businessman Jonathan L. Guardo, Crunchicken of long-time sports patron Benedict Chua and Titay’s Rosquillos of Gerardo "Dodong Gamay" Frasco, Jr.
This brings the total number of corporate backers to nine, so far. The rest include Richmedia Digital Ads of Jack Huang, El Rancho of Virginia Foods Incorporated (VFI) president Felix O. Tiukinhoy, Jr., GDS Security Services of Ben Sun, Kima Glass of Willy Kima, Dewfoam of Dewey Choachuy, Jr. and Lorenz ‘Chao’ Sy of Hotel Fortuna and La Fortuna Bakeshop.
A total of 16 teams halved into eight per division will see action in the two-month tournament also backstopped by M. Lhuillier pawnshops, ML Pamilya Insurance Plans and Western Union.
In the men’s group, the top two seeds in Bracket A are USC and the University of the Visayas (UV), while the top-ranked squads in Bracket B are the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF).
In the distaff side, the top seeds in Bracket A are USJ-R and USC, while USPF and Southwestern University (SWU) make up the top forces in Bracket B.
The rankings were determined by the school’s standings in the previous Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) season.
The rest of the entries in the men’s category are the University of Cebu (UC) and selection teams from Carcar, Liloan and Mandaue.
The other competitors in the women’s class are UC, Hiroshi All-Stars, MLSDF All-Stars and Carcar selection.
The competition follows a single round robin format for both divisions, with the top two teams advancing into the crossover semifinals. The winners will then slug it out for the championship.
