Hugo steers Queen City United past Sykes Asia

Lukas Hugo steered Queen City United-CAFC to a masterful whitewash of Sykes Asia, 11-0, in the Aboitiz CebuFA Men's Football Cup over the weekend at the San Roque field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Hugo contributed five of the 11 goals by QCU, following Anthony Trinidad's icebreaking goal at the 12th minute.

After Trinidad's opening goal, Hugo came in with two consecutive goals at the 34th and 36th and this was followed by Ireneo Cabilla at the 41st.

Hugo then made another double in the 44th and 56th while Cabilla banged in the 57th as Gregory Plus saw a slim chance to make a goal at the 65th.

Hugo, Plus and Francis Ramirez made the final shots at the 80th, 84th and 86th minutes, respectively, for the victory/

On the other hand, Uptown Football Club overpowered University of the Philippines Alumni, 5-0. Ludwig Sandalo made the first goal for Uptown at the third minutes and Jaymont Cabanesas in the sixth. Calude Briones and Edgar Quitor made back-to-back goals at the 15th and 18th, respectively and Erwin Lozada made his contribution in the 23rd to complete the 5-0 shutout.

Also, Team Cebu City drubbed Xsem, 6-2, with Benedict Arriola scoring four out of six goals.

Arriola made the first two goals for TCC in the 17th and 31st but this was responded by Xsem's Ricardo Cabije at the 25th and 40th, to equal the score at 2-2.

But Arriola and Jose Diao came back for goals in the 53rd and 79th as Jessie Melgo and Arriola pitched in at the 83rd and 85th minutes.

The last game saw Metropolitan FC winning over Maitland FC, 1-0, with Rene Inoc making the only score at the eighth minute. - Marigold P. Lebumfacil
