US coaches to hold tennis workshop at Casino Español

Three US tennis coaches will be visiting Cebu City on February 16-18 to hold a work-shop at the Casino Español.

They are Ted Sayrahder, Kevin Young, and Joy Riley. They will be accompanied by Elmer Dolera, founder of the Goodwill Tennis Tours.

The three-day seminar, which is for free, is a follow up to the one conducted by ITF Development officer Suresh Menon, also at Casino Español.

Sayrahder is a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) certified Pro 1 tennis professional and a USTA High Performance Coach.

He was awarded the USPTA Pro of the Year in 2003 and had just been recognized as the USPTA Tester of the Year for the Pacific Northwest Division.

Young, for his part, is another USPTA Pro 1, who had been a vice-president of the USPTA Pacific Northwest Division and a member of the National USPTA National Executive Committee. In 1997, Young was awarded USPTA Pro of the Year for the Pacific Northwest Division.

Aside from Cebu, the project, which is supported by the United States Embassy, will also visit Camiguin, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Manila and Naga.

For Cebu, all tennis coaches, trainers, PE instructors, parents, and players are encouraged to join the workshop, which is supported by the Cebu City government through Councilor Sylvan "Jack" Jakosalem. For inquiries and registration, one can call Ging-Ging Astilla at 416-1122 local 100. Slots are limited, so interested parties are encouraged to register ahead.-Caecent No-ot-Magsumbol
