ANS, Springdale and Don Bosco thrash foes in Aboitiz football

- Marigold Lebumfacil -
The Abellana National School (ANS) booters blanked Center for International Education (CIE), 4-0, in the CebuFA-organized 10th Aboitiz Boys-15 Football Cup the other day at San Roque field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Jethro Santos broke the ice of the match at the sixth and Ronel Cuizon chipped in a goal at the 32nd to power ANS to a sizzling 2-0 start.

As the CIE side stayed ice-cold, Francis Villarico and Jan Michael Canoy of ANS dealt the finishing blows by drilling in goals at the 50th and 75th for the 4-0 shutout.

In the other game, PAREF-Springdale overpowered host San Roque Football Club in their humiliating battle yesterday, 5-0, behind the one-two punch of Evan James Mendoza and Miguel Angelo Arriola.

Arriola delivered Springdale's first goal with just three minutes gone by in the game. After that, the two squads tightended up their defenses for more than half an hour until Mendoza found the back of the net at the 45th to pad their lead to 2-0.

Arriola scored anew in the 55th before Mendoza completed a hat-trick at the 68th and 69th to seal Springdale's impressive triumph.

In the final match of the day, the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) dumped FCI Cebu, 8-0, with Bernard Buot hitting a hat-trick.

It was Louie Inez, however, who logged Don Bosco's first goal at the 18th. Jonathan Caballero nailed two consecutive goals at the 31st and 33rd, before Buot started to heat up and knocked in two goals at 35th and 39th.

Hiel Alpuerto and Rikko de Guzman contibuted goals at 45th and 60th before Buot plunged the final nail on FCI Cebu's coffin at the 70th.
