Jumapao of Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (CETBA)-Prima emerged as the PBC 2006 Bowler of the Year in the majors boys division after ruling three events being contested in the PBC year-ending tilts.
Kim Lao of Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA)-Prima bagged the award in the majors girls division, while the teammate Alexis Sy took home the honors in the juniors girls category.
At the Green Valley Bowling Center in Pasig City, Jumapao topped the majors boys event with 1,870 pinfalls.
It was actually a one-two finish for the Cebu bets with CETBA's James Zuluaga settling for the first runner-up honors with 1,789 pins.
Kim Lao and Rocci Damole, both of BTA-Prima, duplicated the feat of their boys counterparts by claiming the top two sports in the majors girls division with 1,747 and 1,536 pinfalls, respectively.
Jumapao, on the other hand, also lorded it over in the doubles event with partner Jake Yap of CETBA. They conspired for a total of 2,488 pinfalls to edge out Prima 3's tandem of John Racho and Mark Ho by 43 pins.
Jumapao, a secondary student of Sacred Heart School-Jesuit, capped what had been a sterling year for him by seizing the masters event title in the PBA Youth Annuals with a total of 3,645 pinfalls in the 16-game series.
Jumapao's doubles partner Jake Yap came in fourth with 3, 349.
In the team event, CETBA and Prima claimed the first runner-up honors in the boys and girls categories.
CETBA placed second in the boys division with 4,788 pinfalls behind the efforts of Jake Yap, Christopher Foyle, James Zuluaga, and Joma Jumapao, while the girls side composed of Madeline Llamas, Rocci Damole, Liza Vicente and Nica Chua also had a bridesmaid finish with 4, 517 pinfalls.
