XEROX Lauron was proclaimed as Road Cyclist of the Year in 2006 in Cebu cycling community.
The most coveted title is based from the overall points each cyclist gathered in RECYCLE-organized races here.
Lauron had long been leading the RCY battle and even as he had not been winning as many Road Cyclist of the Month series titles, it had less effect on his bid as the best racer.
Lauron's strategy worked well as he collected a total of 670 points enough to bag the RCY title.
Lauron sealed his bid with a 79-point advantage over Richard Patalinghug who ended with 591 points.
Haylin Bardaje for his part ended third overall with 514 points.
Patalinghug was able to overtake Bardaje in the overall standing after the latter missed the penultimate leg which is the individual time trial.
The fourth to 10th placed rider in 2006 were Jun-Jun Canasa,Ricky Ermianio,Orlan Toring,Ian Colina,Ciano Dignos,Johann Ermitanio and Taer Lambo.
Richard Patalinghug may missed the RCY he also had something great to celebrate during the New Year's eve as he emerged as December's Road Cyclist of the Month even as Boy Pagnanawon dominated the last leg at the Mandaue City Reclamation area.
Team Kalit came out the best team in the last monthly series last year.
As Patalinghug ruled class B, it was the differently-abled Rex Gonzalez who ruled class C in the last blast of last year sponsored by Spark Kleen, Vellum, Al Figer, Glenn Rasco, Jojo Taghoy, Pinoybikes.com, Independent Fabrications,Neil Duhaylungsod and Geoffrey Lariosa.
The RCY action for 2007 starts next month yet.
