ASEAN 10K run moved to January

Cebu City Councilor Sylvan "Jack" Jakosalem promises a bigger and richer Cebu City ASEAN 10-kilometer Fun Run when it reels off January at the Cebu Provincial Capitol building.

Organizers of the ASEAN Summit are proposing to hold the meeting of the heads of state on January 11-13.

"By that time, we can already attract more sponsors for the race," said Jakosalem as he plans to solicit more support from the private sector, particularly items, which can be given as give-away to the winners.

The activity is classified into different categories namely the open category for both men and women, Masters A category (40-59 years old), Masters B category (60 yrs. Old and above), the Executives division and the ASEAN delegate divisions.

Early plans have it that the winners in the open divisions in both the men and women's will win P10,000 cash and a trophy while the second placers will receive P8,000 and a trophy. The third placers will be awarded P6,000 and trophy.

The fourth to the 30th placers will also receive cash prizes and medals.

In the Masters divisions, both A and B categories will be P5,000 plus trophy for the champion, P4,000 plus trophy for the second placer and P3,000 and a trophy for the third placers. Also, fourth to 20th will each be awarded cash prizes and medals.

In the Executive and ASEAN Delegate division the top three winners will get trophies and medals.

"The main purpose of holding the fun run is to give the ASEAN delegates a chance to physically unwind after a week of mental work," explained Jakosalem.
