Records fall in Dewfoam Powerlifting championships

The tradition continued as national records were smashed at the conclusion of the 9th Dewfoam Southern Philippines Powerlifting Championships at the Robinson's Place.
Five National Masters and two Southern Philippines records were broken as Eric Paglinawan of Sweat Shop lead the cast of record-breakers after setting a new mark in the Philippine Master I-67.5 kilograms.
Paglinawan lifted five kilos better in the RP Master-I squat, from 175 to 180kgs. He made 113 kilos in the bench press, 200.5kgs in the deadlift for at total of 492.5 kilos.
Ormoc City Powerlifting Association-Berndt Body Flex's Ronnie Oca broke the other RP Masters-I's 56kgs class record, raising the 1999 mark in the deadlift of 102.5 to a new high of 105kgs.
Lone entry in the 100kgs, Densing, posted the record in the Southern Philippines squat after taking 190 kilos, which is half a kilo better than the 2001 mark.
Gina Reducto, the best lifter in the women's open division also established a Southern Philippine record, erasing Ester Cabasura's 100 kilo lift with a new mark of 105kgs.
On the other hand, Marlyn Roca ruled the 56kgs class, Janice Penserga topped in the 52kgs class and Jessica Jagna dominated in the 48kgs division.
In the men's open, Steve Alinahon ruled the 60kgs, Limuel Lazarte in the 67.5kgs, Joshua Jumalon in the 75kgs, Radin Codilla in the 82.5kgs, Jay Carillo in the 90kgs, and Gerry Penserga in the 110kgs.
The novice division's top powerlifters were Erwin Barabad (60kgs), Regino Cabuenas(67.5kgs), Carlos Layson(75kgs), Joseph Courtney (82.5kgs) while the distaff side had Christine Redira in the 48kgs division and Janice Penserga in the 52kgs division. The event was organized by the Powerlifting Association of the Philippines Incorporated.
