Sally Mae Siso scored back-to-back wins as she snatched the singles crown in the Penang Open International Junior Age-Group Tennis Championships amidst bad calls at the University Sains Malaysia tennis court yesterday.
Siso saved the day of the Philippine squad competing in Malaysia after coming out victorious in the girls 12-under singles event over Korea's Lee Daun.
The University of San Carlos South Campus student showed her might winning the gold in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
She handily won the first set as she was determined to extract revenge to the Koreans, who defeated them in the doubles.
The Cebuanas confidence was so high until bad calls came one after the other.
The Dunlop and Osaka Iridology-supported Siso could not hide her anguish that she could not help but cry.
The words of encouragement from her mother, Sally and the cheers of her fellow team members and other supporters awaken Siso's spirit.
"Nangapagaw jud mi ug cheer kay pag-second set, mi-hilak Em-em sa bad calls three times. Nadala ra sa cheering si Em-em mao naulian ra siya," said her mother.
Meanwhile, Siso and another Cebuano Vince Marc Tabotabo and the rest of the Pinoy netters competing in Malaysia will go to Perlis for the next tournament.
