November 2, 2006 | 12:00am
The Emperads put up a good fight to deny the Cebu State College of Science and Technology (CSCST) the championship crown in the premier men's open of the FC-Inter Cebu Ticgahon League in Lapu-lapu City the other day.
CSCST, which needed on a draw to win the crown, took command of the first half of the 90-minute championship match, but the Emperads never lost faith and pulled the rug away.
As the game intensified, referee Dante Orejudos sent out a player from each team following unfair attacks.
With just 15 minutes left, the Emperads lost another player on the field due to foul spiel.
CSCST pushed harder but the Emperads goal keeper stopped all their efforts.
A counter attack from Emperads was successful as they logged two goals to win the title.
The marching band from Abuno played before and after the afternoon matches as well as during the awarding ceremony led by FCIC Vice-president Manfred Schuwerk.
Aside from the men's open, also awarded the other day were the winners of the youth-league.
Mahayahay dominated the under-14 and Tabor Hills in the Under-16 class.
The U-12 and U-10 final action will be decided on December yet at Tabor Hills, Talamban.
