After ruling the 2006 Gawad Kalinga 10K Run for a Cause last month, both Penales and Lumindas-Getaruelas continued their dominance in their respective divisions yesterday.
Penales topped anew in the men's division, finishing the 5K race in 15 minutes and 32.31 seconds to pocket P3,000 and a trophy.
The second placer went to journeyman Raul Lamprea of Holy Cross of Davao City, who clocked 15:54.82. He went home with a cash prize of P2,000 and a trophy.
Completing the top three placers in the race also supported by Jonathan Guardo of the Guardo Group of Companies was Adonis Singson, who submitted a time of 16:18.89. He earned P1,000 and a trophy.
Rounding up the top 10 finishers who also received P300 each were Riez Enriquez of University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) in 16:48.11, Miljune Luterte of University of Cebu (UC) in 17:06.61, Gilbert Luterte of University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) in 17:25.07, Florante Ordeniza in 18:10.74, Reprinel Banzon of Abellana National School in 18:13.11, Jorge Pinangaling in 18:44.94 and MJ Ouano in 19:09.86.
Lumindas-Getaruelas, on the other hand, ruled the distaff side with a time of 19:28.39 while Mary Rose Arman of USPF settled for second place in 19:42.41.
The third placer of the event which attracted close to 700 runners, was Sheena Gacayan of UC in 20:10.97.
The top 10 finishers were Merlita Arias (20:30.36), Madelaine Carter (21:21.94), Dianne Baronia of USPF (22:56.29), Jennifer Montejo (25:17.89), Cindy Cabajar of USPF (25:38.89), Julie Chan (27:26.74) and Erica Daag of USPF (30:10.85).
They received cash prizes similar to the ones given to the winners in the men's division.
Also present during the awarding ceremonies were Cebu City Mice Mayor Michael Rama and Sambag I barangay captain Gerry Guardo.
Both Rama and Guardo also finished the 5K race, which was officiated by the Cebu Track and Field Association (CETAFA).
