'Dilaab' to spearhead 'Fun Run for Peace and Solidarity' tomorrow
October 27, 2006 | 12:00am
As part of its contribution to the upcoming 12th ASEAN Summit bearing the theme "One Caring and Sharing Community", Dilaab - a Church-based movement for a transformed Filipino nation promoting heroic Christian citizenship- is organizing an activity stressing physical and mental wellness.
Dubbed as "Fun Run for Peace and Solidarity", the event will be held at 5 am tomorrow starting at the grounds of the Cardinal's Residence along D. Jakosalem Street, this city.
After the race, a mass will be officiated by no less than Cebu's well-loved Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal at the covered court of the same compound for the intention of a fruitful and secure ASEAN Summit and beyond.
The Fun Run is open to everybody. The different organizations that will be joining may bring banner or anything to identify their group. There will be no registration fee because the competition is for everybody.
The event stresses the vital role of wellness in the lives of heroic Christian citizens. To effectively love God, neighbor, and country, a person begins by having a well-ordered love of self. Taking care of one's body is a concrete expression of this.
In addition to wellness, the event is also an opportunity for expressing solidarity with one another in promoting Dilaab-coordinated programs for OFW's and families, school-based clubs against illegal drugs, and the PNP Values and Leadership School which envisions "God-centered, family-based and service-oriented" policemen.
SEA KNIGHTS, a partner organization promoting coral reef and marine conservation, is also joining the Fun Run.
For further information, one may call the Dilaab Fun Run Secretariat at (032)233-9384 or (032)412-7572 and look for Ann Patoc or Tess Tejero. - Marigold P. Lebumfacil
