This marks for the first time that the race series will be held outside the province of Cebu.
The farthest venue used to be Bantayan Island where a huge number of riders joined the event four months ago.
With that, long-time motor racing benefactor Lou Ornopia, the man behind the event, decided to give it a try in Dumaguete.
Dubbed as the "Buglasan Cup" Invitational Motocross, the eighth leg will be played in a racetrack owned by MS Motosuit's leading expert rider and Dumaguete's hometown pride Irwin Ramas-Uypitching of Team RUSI.
Although Uypitching's family owns the racetrack, the so-called "homecourt" advantage is not there as the organizers are re-designing the course.
"If before Irwin knows where the smallest stones are, it's not going to happen this time around as the racetrack has a new design," said Quickflight's Pepo Rubi, the closest rival of Uypitching for the top spot among expert riders, in yesterday's weekly SCOOP-Cebu forum at Baseline Restaurant.
Other than Rubi and the Abellar siblings Juvenille and Juvannie, Uypitching will have to brace for a tougher showdown against two of the country's hottest daredevils in Glenn "D' King" Aguilar and Kenneth San Andres.
Aguilar and San Andres are invited to this Sunday's event along with another fast emerging rider Dondon Yuson.
However, it's undecided yet whether Aguilar, San Andres and Yuson will be racing as guest riders only or if they will be officially part of the series' results and points.
The event features different classes ranging from the beginner's class to the executives divisions.
On the other hand, Popeye Rubi will be on hand to support the competition that serves as one of the highlights of Dumaguete's annual Buglasan festival.
Popeye Rubi, even if he is still on a motorized wheelchair following an accident early this year, says he will be there for the love of the sport. Also, he wants to support MS Motosuit and its owner Lou Ornopia who never left him in his trying times.
Popeye hopes for a speedy recovery from his spinal injury as he is aching to race again in the MS Motosuit Series, more so that Ornopia plans to hold it on a yearly basis.
