Team Basic wins three gold in Maskara event

Arafura Games 2005 bronze medalist Michael Angelo Realista won gold medal to lead the Team Basic-Taekwondo in the 2006 Maskara Invitational Taekwondo Championships in Bacolod City over the weekend.

Realista took the gold medal in the senior lightweight division as John Mark Bas ruled the junior men featherweight class.

Catherine Bas, for her part, topped in the junior women bantamweight class.

Finishing silver was another Arafura Games bronze medalist Frauline Joy Coran in the senior women's flyweight.

A bronze medal was also won by Mariciellynda Balbona, after finishing third in the women's fin weight.

Other members of the team were Steven Carl Tan and Eric Garces, who competed in the junior grade school division. - Rafael S. Alas III
