Lapu-Lapu, Raja Humabon, Sugbo chapters sizzle in Architect's Badminton Cup

Lapu-Lapu City, Rajah Humabon and Sugbo chapters figured in a three-way battle for supremacy in the United Architects of the Philippines and Boysen-presented Architect's Badminton Cup 2006 yesterday at Racquet Zone in Montebello Hotel.
Jon Sagarduil and Dave Valle of UAP Lapu-Lapu Chapter paced the men's doubles Level E Bracket B with an immaculate 3-0 win-loss record, while Raymund Vega and Lloyd Joseph Madera of UAP-Rajah Humabon Chapter is on top of Level E Bracket C also with a clean 3-0 slate.
Sagarduil and Valle drubbed Patrick Lendel Go/Walter Uy of UAP-Sugbo Chapter, and Clive Aaron Guanzon/Antonio Manuel Orseo and Cyrus Gil Dano and Kris Zalavarria both of Rajah Humabon Chapter.
Vega and Madera, on the other hand, bested the pairs of Jonathan Suico/Janjan Polo and Mark Pura/Luth Pura of Lapu-Lapu and Jonas Pacifico and Fullbert Lee of UAP-Cebu Chapter.
Figuracion and Paolo Torres led in Level E Bracket A with three straight wins over the tandems of Kim Taling/Arnold Arroyo, Globert Fernandez/Marlon Barino and Iben Bari/Lovel Cuizon.
In Level E Bracket D, Mark Capili and Vincent Sesbreno of Lapu-Lapu and Cresencio Tiong and Roy Damole of Rajah Humabon posted one victories each.
UAP Lapu-Lapu Chapter president Laurence Young and partner Michael Quezon scored a two-game sweep over Rudyard Cinco and Reuben Fuentes of Rajah Humabon and Malamid Art and Rey Albert Daluz in Level D Bracket B.
In Level D Bracket A, Ric Ampoloquio and Allan Buena of Sugbo Chapter and Wilson Wang and UAP Lapu-Lapu Chapter vice president Christopher Dy nailed one victories apiece.
In the Level D mixed doubles, the event's project chairman Allan Choachuy and Roselani Choachuy of Lapu-Lapu Chapter shared the temporary lead with Jason Ng and Michele Ng also of Lapu-Lapu with two wins each.
The tandem of Dennis Mayo and Elizabeth Montecillo of Sugbo Chapter is on top of the leaderboard in Level E mixed doubles without defeat in three games. It's an all-Sugbo Chapter show in this division with Mark Diaz/Sharon Gonzaga and Erickson Perez/Anne Nunez posting two victories apiece.
Meanwhile, in the side event media category billed as the "1st Cebu Sports Media Association (CSMA) Badminton Cup", Cebu Daily News sports editor Rick Gabuya and Sun.Star Superbalita sports reporter Erwin Lirazan upset the highly-favored CDN tandem of Ronald Natulla and Lito Tecson, 31-27, to wrest the championship.
Sun.Star's Allan Defensor and Jaime Frias bagged the third place honors.
The top three winners received P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
On hand to award the plaques, medals and cash prized to the winners in the media division were event project chairman Allan Choachuy and UAP Lapu-Lapu Chapter president Laurence Young.
