Estenzo lifts Cabajar past Bunturan

UC Webmasters alternate guard Michael Estenzo scored five straight points in the closing minutes to lift Cabajar to a nerve-wracking 83-82 win over Bunturan in the opening match of the 1st Mayor's Cup 2006 Guadalupe Inter-Sitio Open basketball tournament last Sunday at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.

In the other game, the LactoPafi-backed Buena Hills defeated Caimito, 71-64, behind 20 points from former Skygo star Pablo Tecson.

Estenzo nailed 16 points of his game-high 22 points in the second half. He capped his endgame heroics with bigtime shots in the dying moments to complete Cabajar's daring escape.

Cabajar somewhat caught big fish with the win as Bunturan was led by ex-SWU Cobra Mario Naron and former USP Panther Arnel Lauranilla.

Meanwhile, Cebu City MayorTomas Osmeña, Rep. Antonio V. Cuenco, city councilor and multi-titled coach Raul "Yayoy" Alcoseba and Guadalupe Brgy. Capt. Eugenio "Jingjing" Faelnar were on hand to grace the opening ceremonies.

Miss Tishia Marie Bacalla, a third year high school student at the University of San Jose-Recoletos representing Sitio Panaghiusa, bested all other beauties to win the best muse award.
