Marlins grab 19 gold medals in Pilipinas Swim Camp

The Cebu Blue Marlins garnered more than what was expected of them, hauling a total of 19 gold, 12 silvers and 13 bronze medals at the close of two-day second stage of the Pilipinas Youth Swimming Camp in Dumaguete City yesterday.
It was University of Cebu's Noel Cañeda, who garnered the most number of gold medals for the Cebu Marlins with five not counting two silvers and a bronze.
Cañeda ruled the boys' 15 class after reigning in the 200 meter individual medley, 100 and 200m breast stroke, 400 and 800m freestyle, and 200m butterfly.
Cañeda also grabbed a silver each in the 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly and a bronze in the 400m freestyle.
Another UC swimmer, Andrew Dequina of UC added four gold medals after ruling the 100m and 200m backstroke, 200m individual medley and the 200m breaststroke. He also won a silver and a bronze.
Len Jon Cadavos from Bethany Christian School contributed three gold medals in the boys' 10. He topped in the 200m IM, 200m breaststroke and 400m freestyle.
The Vega siblings combined of four gold, seven silvers and four bronzes medals.
Paula Abigail Vega, also of UC and CBM's bet in the girls'14-under, got the gold in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke while her brother, Michael, took a gold in the 200m butterfly of the boy's 16 class.
Jeffrey Yana settled for with two golds also in the boys' 16-under along with two silvers and four bronzes.
Girls'9 under class bet, Bethmay Arellano from Subangdaku Elementary School went away with a gold in the 200m butterfly, a silver in the 200m IM and a bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
Noel Cañeda's young sister, Trina managed with a bronze in the 200m breaststroke for the girl's 10-under class.
