Talisay City secured its third straight win in the Municipality of Naga over the weekend to maintain a clean slate in the 2nd Gov. Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup.
Talisay City is the only team among six entries in bracket I to stay clean after last Saturday's outing.
With two more games left, Talisay City is definitely out for revenge after it was disqualified last year for fielding an ineligible player.
After winning against cluster I defending champion, Carcar in the opening day, Talisay City next dumped Minglanilla and host Naga.
Talisay scored a 2-0 win against one of the early favorites, Minglanilla, pulling a close 25-13, 25-22 win on Saturday morning.
In the afternoon session, Talisay City pulled another straight sets victory over host Naga, 25-16, 25-17.
Defending champion, Carcar, for its part, bounced back from defeat in the opening day by winning its next two games.
Carcar gave Sibonga some neat lessons, chalking a 25-7, 25-11 win and followed it by a 25-10, 25-11 victory over San Fernando.
Sibonga, on the other hand, suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Minglanilla, 25-7, 25-10, which also logged its next win against San Fernando, 25-14, 25-9.
With the win, Minglanilla stands side by side in the tally board with cluster I defending champion, Carcar, sporting two wins and a loss.
The only team which lost all its three assignments was San Fernando, which bowed to Carcar, Minglanilla and Naga.
The top two teams in cluster I will meet the best of the five other clusters for the overall crown.
