Solon, Sales dominate Mr. and Ms. Physique

Samuel Solon of Bacolod and Allen Sales of Manila were declared as the Mr. and Ms. Workout Physique Philippines 2006, respectively, at the Ballroom of Cebu Midtown Hotel the other night.
"I thought, hindi ako makakapasok sa finals kasi matitindi ang mga kalaban ko but I want to give God the glory of everything," said Solon, who topped in the Small Category, which led him to compete in the championship round.
Solon, who started dodybuilding at the age of 17, was the 1998 Centennial Mr. Maskara, Mr. Universe 2006 fourth runner-up (short division) and sixth placer in the Mr. Physique 2001 welterweight category.
His ultimate goal is to join the Philippine team.
Sales, on the other hand, had Ms. Workout Physique 2006 as her very first championship title in her first year in bodybuilding.
"Nahirapan akong maging champion kasi magagaling ang mga kalaban ko," said Sales, who was fourth runner-up in the Ms. Universe Philippines. She also joined the Ms. Physique Greenhills but she did not won.
To become a body-builder was her dream since she was a child and to join the RP Team and to win in Manila competitions are among her goals. She was followed by Frennie Delijero (Cebu), Grace Solon (Bacolod), Sylvia Bajo (Cebu) and Jacky Jumao-as (Cebu).
There were five categories in the men's division and the champions in the different categories advanced to the championship round.
Oleen Labaton, also from Bacolod, occupied the first runner-up slot in the over-all competition after he topped in the tall category. Landing on the second to the fifth places were Christopher Adrian Anglo (Bacolod), Spencer Lee (Cebu), Charlie Labrada (Cebu) and Julius Teves.
Labaton was the Mr. Physique Philippines Nabba Tall Category winner and Mr. Visayas Open Category champion. He was also first placer in the Mr. Western Visayas (novice), Mr. Physique '05 (men's open) second placer and the Mr. Fitness Philippines third placer.
Manila's Jay Manaois grabbed the second runner-up title in the over-all category after he lorded it over in the medium category. In his category, Jimmy Ansok (Zamboanga), Junen Enjambre (Cebu), Gib Ang (Bacolod) and Benjie Hopista (Cebu) occupied the second to the fifth slots.
Christopher Adrian Anglo of Bacolod got the over-all third runner-up place after he topped in the novice category. Settling in the second to the fifth places were Epifanio Wafer (Cagayan), Glen Centino (Cebu), Richard Amarado (Cebu) and Gib Ang (Bacolod).
In the master's category, the first to the fourth slots winners went to the Cebuanos. Nestor Bihagan was the champion followed by Romualdo Barbon, Eduardo Conson, Jr. and Jocy Lee of Toledo City while Eddie Mugar of South Cotabato ranked fifth.
Bihagan won the championship titles in the short category.
Cebu's Don Don Cortuna was the guest poser in the event. He said he will be joining the Mr. Universe 2006 in Cuxheaven, Germany on December 2 and next year in the SEAGames in Thailand and Mr. Universe '07.
