Enriquez tops Aznar chessfest

NM Rogelio Enriquez bagged the open division crown of the 1st National Master Matias "Bombi" Aznar Chess Tournament at the Pardo Barangay Hall in Brgy. Pardo, this city.
Enriquez won his first six assignments before settling for a draw with Richard Natividad in the final round.
That was all Enriquez need to take home the championship trophy with 6.5 points. He pocketed P1,500 plus a trophy for his feat.
Erwin Ababat, who capped his campaign with victory over Ramsy Pedrosa, finished second, while Joel Pacuribot landed at third courtesy of his last round conquest of Venacio Loyola.
The fourth to eighth placers were Renaldo Flores, Richard Natividad, Ramsy Pedrosa, Carlo Maraat and Herbert Dayono.
On the other hand, the 14-year-old Rhenzi Kyle Sevillano ruled the kiddies division with a perfect 5.0 points. He tamed Nikki Sabiquil in the last round.
Jaber Cesan wound up second with 4.5 points followed by Alfer Joseph Fernandez with 4.0 points. - Caecent O. No-ot
