Abutazil, Encarnacion top AVGCC Sept. Monthly Medal

Emir Abutazil and Raul Encarnacion led the winners of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club's September Monthly Medal played over the weekend at the par-72 course laid out on the hills of Pardo, this city.

Abutazil fired a gross score of 75 strokes on nines of 37 and 38 to bag the lowest gross honors for the premiere handicap category.

Encarnacion, who scattered three birdies in a round of 76 strokes gross finished with a net 65 to win the lowest net plum. He birdied the 9th then made two more on the long par-3 15th and the par-5 18th.

Runner-up honors for class A went to Poch Lamug with a net score of 69 off a gross score of 78.

The lowest gross for class B went to Ernesto 'Dodong' Siguan, who fired five-over-par 77 strokes on nines of 37 and 40.

Lowest net honors for class B went to Rod Señido with 65 strokes beating Oscar Sanchez in the countback. Sanchez settled for the runner-up honors.

In class C, Butch Aleta bagged the lowest gross honors with his score of 92 strokes off nines of 44 and 48.

The lowest net award went to Richard Li with a net score of 72 strokes beating Jose Ong in the countback. Li had a better score in the last nine holes compared to Ong, which gave him the top award.

The seniors' division title went to Cres Rocamora with a net score of 59 strokes, which was also a tournament best.

Special awards went to Victor Gocela for nearest the pin, Cristino Lim for most accurate drive and Dr. Albert Solis for the longest putt.-NLQ
