San Roque Football Club, Don Bosco Alumni FC and Hiroshi FC claimed the remaining three titles in the 2006 Aboitiz National Football Festival, which came to a close yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Aside from ruling the Players 6 category, Hiroshi FC came out to be the best among the 32 competing teams in the men's open after it drubbed Silliman University of Dumaguete via penalty shootout, 2-0.
Hiroshi team owner Haru Iwanaga picked Marion Cubelo as the MVP.
To avoid controversy, the event organizers have given the right to either the team owner or the head coach of a champion team to chose the MVP awardee.
Magone Firefox, composed mainly of former Don Bosco students, won the third place in the premier class after silencing the returning Crazy Horse, 2-0, also in penalty shootout.
Unlike in the championship game, the battle for third had to be settled directly through a penalty shootout due to time constraints.
In the distaff side, San Roque Football Club tamed the Queen City United, with its goal keeper Irish Mecca winning the best player accolade.
It was, however, Suizette Nemeño scored the lone goal in the shootout for San Roque Football Club.
The equally-exciting men's 36-above action saw Don Bosco Alumni Football Club taking the title over XP International Soccer Club, which is manned by foreign nationals mostly from the MEPZ area.
San Roque took the third place honors after whipping the Springdale Dads, 2-0.
