Villa Norma makes it 3-0 in Talisay hoopfest

Villa Norma demolished PhilHealth, 89-63, to grab the solo lead with a clean 3-0 slate in the open division of the Talisay City Mayor's Cup 2006 basketball tournament at the Taisay City gym.

Villa Norma, composed mostly of former University of the Visayas (UV) Lancers, zoomed to a 24-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Randy de la Pisa and Deodato Lunday tried to make things happen for PhilHealth, but Villa Norma pulled away behind the scoring rampage of Samsam Gullas, who tossed in all his 13 points in the second quarter.

Villa Norma kept its spirited charge in the payoff period to demolish PhilHealth by 26 points.

PhilHealth dropped to 1-1 in a tie with AAA and Kaykens.

In the seniors division, Bulacao finally barged into the winners' column with a 76-70 whipping of Tangke, 76-70.

In the SK division, Tabunok also snapped out of its two-game losing streak by drubbing Dumlog, 61-59.
