When the dust settled, the deadly triumvirate from the ALA boxing family turned the "Triple Thriller" card in Danao City the other night into a triple knockout treat for Danao ring buffs by stopping their respective foes in stellar fashion.
Batawang (38-12-3, 31KOs) scored a smashing one-punch knockout of veteran journeyman Robert Rubillar of Manila's famed Elorde Stable in their non-title bout scheduled for 10 rounds.
In the first two rounds, Batawang had a hard time in going for the kill as Rubillar literally transformed the canvass into a dancefloor. The Manila visitor kept on evading Batawang's relentless attack by back-pedalling incessantly.
That was not for long though, as in the third round when the two protagonists were about to exchange punches, Batawang planted a powerful right cross to the chin that sent Rubillar down on both knees.
A rubbery-legged Rubillar struggled to stand up but failed at the count of 10, forcing referee Tony Pesons to wave off the bout at the 2:36 mark of the round three.
Allanic (15-1, 7KOs) and Fuentes (15-5-2, 10KOs) were similarly impressive in the well-attended slugfest bankrolled by SGG Sports Promotions of international promoter Sammy Gello-ani in partnership with the city government of Danao under the leadership of Mayor Ramon "Nito" Durano III.
The RP No.1 super flyweight contender Allanic triumphed after Rolly Mandahinog surrendered before the start of the eighth round, while the RP ranked No.4 flyweight Fuentes floored Jerry Manganip with a solid right overhand to the head at 2:42 of round four.
Allanic decked Mandahinog with a few seconds left in the seventh round, but Mandahinog got up nimbly at the count of eight.
In a wiry attempt to bail himself out of danger, Mandahinog kept on holding Allanic. At that point, blood was already dripping profusely from a nasty cut over Mandahinog's left eye. That eventually forced Mandahinog's corner to throw in the towel.
With the win, Allanic and Fuentes practically sealed their forthcoming bouts against Japanese prospects Hiroaki Kusunoki and Yuki Nasu, respectively, on October 8 in Osaka, Japan.
Several abbreviated bouts also highlighted the preliminary bouts of the slambang event supported by Cebu TV (Channel 28), Penrex, USA Sports, Rep. Red Durano and the Danao City Sports Commission led by its chairman and city councilor Oscar "Boying" Rodriguez.
Edmund Velayo won over Rolando Toyogon by TKO at 1:31 of the fourth round, Rogen Flores forced Randy Narbay into submission at 1:25 of round four, while Fernando Otik knocked the lights off Noel Tadle in the first round.
The only match that lasted the full distance featured Marjo Borres against Rolly Baclayo, with Borres winning by unanimous verdict.
