Fatigue factor somehow has never gotten into the veins of the members of Dancesport-Team Cebu City as they romped away with three golds, one silver and one bronze after the first two days of competition in the 20th Nevada Star Ball Dancesport Competition at the Green Valley Ranch Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas .
Rebecca "Ricca" Gatal-Alix and partner Renante Saldua became the Cebuanos' saving grace during the first day of competition by winning the gold in the international standard silver open event.
Jimmy Noel and Karla Fornolles grabbed two golds to lead DTCC's quest yesterday via the international latin 3-dances and the international latin pre-championships.
Jeanen Bergado and Lowell Bernados, on the other hand, contributed a silver through the international standard 3-dances competition, while Jojie and Jonah del Rosario wound up with a bronze in the international amateur standard event.
Cebu City opened its US expedition with 20 golds, four silvers and two bronzes in the International Grand Ball Dancesport Championships in San Francisco.
After a short rest, the 12-man DTCC squad accompanied by Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama along with councilors Jocelyn Pesquera, Sylvan Jakosalem and Procopio Fernandez proceeded to Manhattan, New York to strut their wares.
In New York, the Cebuanos improved their medal collection to 24-4-1 gold-silver-bronze in the Empire State Dancesport Championships.
In their third and final US stop in Las Vegas, Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) director for dancesport Edward Hayco said he couldn't ask for more as the team already performed beyond their expectations.
"We would have been very happy if we just reach the finals in any of the events we joined in SF (San Francisco) or in NY (New York). The 20 golds in SF and the 24 in NY was just way beyond our expectations. Let's hope we'll fare well in Las Vegas," Hayco said via text message.
