Motel siblings start strong in E-Mall tablenet

The Motel siblings waxed hot as they lead the early winners in the E-Mall Table Tennis Sports Challenge, which opened yesterday at the activity center of Elizabeth Mall.
Motel brothers Emmanuel and Michael along with Glendo Nyre, representing University of Cebu/Crown Paddle A-Young Builder's Construction (YBC) smashed Danao B, composed of brothers Julius and Marvin Lebosada, and USC B's Von Beltran and Christopher Cortel.
The will advance to the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Motel sisters, Mary Grace and Mary Evangelie, showed class as they blanked USJ-R's Angelica Remo and Reann Combate, 2-0.
The tournament is participated by 150 players from Cebu province only.
According to tournament director Jessica Jawad-Honoridez, the vice president of the Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP) and the over-all chairman of the tourney, this year's event attracted one of the biggest number of participants coming which focused on Cebuano players only.
She added that it is much better to have focused on the Cebuanos so that their true strengths and potentials will be showed off the masses.
In the men's team event, the first placer will receive P5,000 with trophy, the second will have P3,000 with trophy and the third with P2,000 plus a trophy.
For the individual winner's awards, P2,000 with trophy will go to the champion, P1,500 for the second placer and P1,000 for the third. This is given to the winners in both boys and girls division.
Close to 20 teams are participating and only UC, USJ-R and Hua -Ching Foundation had women players.
