Atan Guardo continues run in K Gallery hoop

Atan Guardo kept its hot streak with a devastating 93-73 win over CEBFA in the K Gallery basketball tournament the other night at the Visayan Glass Gym in Brgy. Guadalupe, this city.
Michael Cinco and Oning Villarosa, who combined for 31 points, ignited an early 11-3 run that towed Atan Guardo to a 26-19 lead at the end of the first period.
Ian Kintanar and Totong Villanueva joined the scoring binge in the second canto with their smooth transition offense to pad Atan Guardo's advantage to 11 points at halftime, 35-24.
Dong Cabahug, however, masterminded CEBFA's spectacular comeback by tossing in nine of his 13 points early in the third quarter to erase Atan Guardo's double-digit edge and even push his team in front, 44-42.
Dong Ceniza and Alvin Cabahug, who netted 14 and 10 points respectively, were also instrumental in CEBFA's big turnaround.
Behind power-playing forwards Richard Gubaton and Ramesh Mulchandani, Atan Guardo played tough defense in the final stretch to douse cold water on CEBFA's spirited fightback.
With the tide turning in their favor, Cinco and Villarosa delivered bigtime baskets that vaulted Atan Guardo to an unexpected 20-point blowout.
Gubaton and Mulchandani conspired for 16 points and 23 rebounds as Atan Guardo notched its second victory.
In the other games, San Remigio Beach Club defeated USC Nursing 89-84, Arthkyob triumphed over Moondogs, while USC Commerce pulled off an 84-83 cliffhanger over Villa Norma.
