MISCI grabs 2 final slots in MLSDF Inter-Club net

-
The Mactan Island Sports Club, Inc. (MISCI) netters booked two final seats in the M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation-organized 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Cup Inter-Club Tennis Tournament at Baseline tennis courts.

The Valencia, Bohol-native Anesio Calo-oy and Junjie Deiparine of MISCI overcame La Paloma's hard-fighting duo of Titing Sayson and Nino Beltran via tiebreaker, 8-7 (7-3) to reach the championship round in Class B+ division.

Calo-oy and Deiparine will face next Pardo TC's tandem of Elmer Yac and Richard Zabate, who clinched the remaining final berth after kicking out Atty. Vonrad Dublois and Junjun Laurente of Naga TC, 8-4.

Medjok Paden and Lemuel Rubi became MISCI's second finalist after disposing off Mantads TC's Demit Gonzales and B. Antigua, 8-5, in Class B- category.

Paden and Rubi will be challenged in the final by Naga TC's Jerry Campo and Danny Largo, who breezed into the championship following a 8-6 triumph over Pardo TC's Harry Abellanosa and Joseph Ababon.

On the other hand, Titus Tabotabo and Dodong Ruelan of Tuburan TC kept their sizzling run as they hammered out a 8-5 win over Naga TC's Boy Blue Longakit and Atot Reponte to march into the Class A final.

In all-Southern Islands Medical Center (SIMC)-show, Edwin Bacarisas and Andre Villamor prevailed over Vince Acasio and Wendel Orcullo, 8-3, to cruise into the Class A semifinal.

Barging into the Class C quarterfinals were Rigor Gurea and Vennox Garcia of Naga TC and Dustin Navarez and Ekek Bawasanta of the Lapu-Lapu City-based Topseed TC. Gurea and Garcia came from behind to frustrate Jay Naya and Jerry Flores via tie-breaker, 8-7 (7-3), while Navarez and Bawasanta extinguished the title hopes of Pompi 'Nadal' Saturinas and Atty. Andy Escoton, 8-5.

Guera and Garcia were trailing, 5-7, but showed iron will in snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

To give the finalists ample time to practice and recharge their batteries, all the five championship matches will be played on August 11 yet in the tournament bankrolled by MLSDF through the efforts of its executive director Eddie Ybañez.
