Cebuano Bert Colong ran away with two first runners-up trophies to save the five-man Cebuano squad in the just-concluded Philippine Masters Darts Tournament at the Cozy Nook Restaurant in Baguio City.
Colong, a member of the Cebu City Hall Darts Association, got the second place honors in the classified doubles event along with Manila's Ricky Santiago.
Although it was his first time to play with Santiago, they were able to come that far.
In the classified 3-man team competition, Colong also got lucky and came up with another silver along with Baguio's Zaldy Reyes and Manila's Joseph Aquiles.
Along with Colong in the event were Roy Laude, Winnie Ocanada, Angelito Badayos and Reynaldo Santiago.
"First time nga taga Cebu naka-lusot ani nga event sa Luzon. They were surprise nga taga Cebu niabot didto and naka daog pa gyud," Colong told The Freeman yesterday.
Colong, in behalf of the other competing Cebuanos, is most thankful to Mayor Tomas Osmeña for his financial support for their trip.
