Jovi Neri and Eric Deen led the winners of the 3rd Mactan Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturers (MEPZCEM) Fellowship Golf Tournament at the Cebu Country Club yesterday.
The two players, who are both club champions of the host course, showed how they feel about playing at home with spectacular performances.
Neri bagged the overall title of the tournament for scoring the lowest net of four-under-par 68 strokes in the System-36 Handicapping System.
Deen for his part scored the lowest gross shooting two-under-par 70 strokes.
Ramon 'Boboy' Durano IV of Danao City topped division A with his net score of 70 strokes off a gross of 84.
Runner-up honors went to Eichi Kitamura of Cebu Microelectornics Inc. with a net score of 71 off a gross 83. He won the award after edging five others who finished with the same score.
The System-36 handicapping format gives each player a handicap of 36 strokes at the start of the round. After each hole is played, he earns points depending on his score. A par or better is worth two points, bogey is one, and double-bogey or worse is zero.
The points earned were deducted from 36 to get the player's System-36 handicap for the round.
The division B crown went to Gerard Walker of Cebu City Marriott Hotel with a net score of 72 off a gross score of 93 strokes. He won it by virtue of having more birdies than the others who finished with the same net score.
Runner-up honors for division B went to Yoshio Yamada of Cebu Mitsumi with a net score of 72 strokes also. He edged another player who also had the same output.
Joseph Macasusi of Globe Quest won the division C plum with a net score of 75 and claimed it by virtue of the countback. Runner-up honors went to Jun Tacongcong of U-Freight Phils. also with a net score of 75.
Edwin Robin won the nearest pin award for a tee shot that landed 90 inches from the hole on the par-3 5th.
The longest drive of hole No. 8 was logged by Harumasa Hoshino while Analee Javellana had the longest putt on the 9th sinking her attempt from 332 inches away.
Binky Cruz scored the most bogeys with 12 while Deen made the most pars with 11.
