Queen City United is one win away four Aboitiz Football Cup title

The Queen City United (QCU) is a game away from keeping its crown after silencing the San Roque Football Club, 1-0, yesterday in the 10th Aboitiz-CebuFA Football Cup Women's Open at the San Roque Football field in Subangdaku, Mandaue Coty.

But the road to victory did not come easy for the defending champion QCU, as it met stiff opposition from an equally tough San Roque Football Club, who was the host of the battle.

Cristina Fuentes, who sealed QCU's first game with a goal in the final half last week, made another sterling performance when she saved her team, after finding an opportunity to take a successful shot, 37 minutes down the first half.

San Roque, whose members were formerly under the Queen City squad, tried to retaliate in the final half, but their efforts went futile.

This even as Jan Vercile Salac, one of QCU's key players, was slapped with a red card in the final stretch of the game.

Salac was sent off from the game for an alleged misconduct, after lodging several complaints against the referee.

QCU's last mission for this year's battle will be Mulbachs.

Mulbachs is expected to vent its ire on QCU after the former bowed down to the latter's sister team, University of San Carlos, 2-1.

With only four teams battling out for the title, the team with the most number of points wins.

San Roque has to pray that Mulbachs win by a large margin against QCU for them to take the title. But they also need to produce as many goals as possible against their last assignment, USC.

QCU leads with 2-0-0 win-draw-loss card as San Roque and USC trail with an identical 1-0-1 and Mulbachs with two losses.
