Desosa wins in Tita Gwapa boxing

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -
Alde Desosa continued with his winning run since winning gold medal in the First Philippine Olympic Festival after he outclassed Philippine-Australian Club's Mado Estra in the Bakbakan sa Tindahan ni Tita Gwapa II Amateur Boxing Challenge in Umapad, Mandaue City the other night.

Desosa earned a referee-stop-contest decision due to outclass (RSC-O), a minute and 43 seconds in the fourth round, against a more experienced Estra. This is Desosa's first win in locally organized event.

Cagayan de Oro-native Mark John Yap, who grabbed a bronze in the POF, also made a convincing 3-0 win opposite Pakna-an's Dondon Gesta.

Three other pugilists also outclassed their respective opponents in Charlie Redula, Kevin Baunsit both in the 42kgs class and Pedro Sulondro in the 54kgs class.

Redula sent away Jendy Boy Mahusay 1:25 in the final round while Baunsit had his victory 1:30 in the second round against Benjamin Espinoza.

Sulondro, for his part, left Dixter Humaw-as helpless with two seconds left in the second round.

Even with that RSC-O wins, the most talked about was the win awarded to Jerome Bontog of Phil-Australian Club in the 51kgs class fight as he stunned national champion Joseph Von Miñoza.

Miñoza was disqualified from the battle after he lost control of his temper and kicked Bontog's stomach in the second round.

On the other hand, last minute replacement to Joseph Omaña, Retchuel Aton silenced Darryl Pucdol, 3-0 in the 54kgs class while last minute addition, Jestoni Borres of the University of the Visayas also had a 3-0 mark against John Rey Semblante.

Maguikay's Eddie Boy Abiar and Gerald Suico, Phil-Australia's Antonio Calida and Barili's Rolito Mingaska, also scored a 3-0 win.

Abiar dumped Marlou Tobis in the 30kgs class, Suico against Erwin San Roque in the 34kgs division, Calida outpunched Junard Lukaykay in the 36kgs category and Mingaska dominating the 45kgs class over Edcel Tunacao.

Dann Lou Codilla and Donald Tubod, for their part, pulled a 2-1 victory against KJ Pelayo and Richard Villanueva, respectively.
