Group B top-ranked Rama-Bullo held off the Fontana Drinking Water to a record low 39 points, even as Aqua Serv scored a stunning upset over Group A topseed Cebu Movers System in the Guadalupe Athletic Association (GAA) 7th Founder's Cup quarterfinals last Sunday at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.
Rama-Bullo of former Cebu vice governor Enric Rama and Dr. Stephen Bullo ousted Fontana in record fashion, 63-39, holding the latter to a league record for the lowest output in a game in seven years.
Aqua Serv, led by former USJ-R Jaguar pointguard Allan Ricaña, also advanced after eliminating the Cebu Mover's System, 71-59. Ricaña had his finest game, so far, as he limited Cebu Mover's System topgunner Vincent "Inting" Reyes to only nine points, way below his 20 points per game average.
In the other games, the G&S International booted out the more solid Ludo-RDM, 69-63, while Egpyt Sportwear escaped with a 68-64 win over defending champion Agencia Grande.
Ricaña, who along with Serg Bacatan and Armstrong Fernandez finished with 14 points each, appeared to be few years younger when he shackled Reyes with his porous defense, thereby, crippling Cebu Mover's offensive network.
On the other hand, Guadalupe barangay councilor David Suzara topscored for Rama-Bullo with 13 points, while Boy Mitante and Danny de la Peña added 10 markers apiece.
Only Roy Elizalde cashed in double figures with 10 points among the nine players who scored from Fontana.
Later in the day, Joey Tablada scored 22 points to lead G&S International followed by Eric Echavez and William Jabines with 12 points each.
In the main match, Jeffrey Diola topscored for Egpyt with 16 points, while Modex Modequillo and GAA auditor Serg Cortes had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Agencia Grande, which already bowed out from the tournament, had 16 points from Benjie Capili and 10 points each from Incio Ibo and Eric Du.
