Jun Dayot's ace highlights view

- Nimrod NL Quiñones -
Businessman Alejandro 'Jun' Dayot III scored an ace at the 155-yard hole No. 13 yesterday to highlight the third day of action in The View Invitational 2006 at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.

Dayot, who used a Callaway X-14 No. 5 iron and a Callaway No. 4 ball for the feat said that his tee shot went towards the left of the pin and then they saw the ball fade.

"We could not see what happened, because of the elevation," he said, but then the spotter assigned to the hole signaled an ace. It was Dayot's second ace. He scored his first two years ago on hole No. 11 of the Mactan Coral Golf Club.

The feat was witnessed by his partner Elro de los Reyes and the team of Charles Uykim and Bonn Mutia.

Dayot won a Yamaha golf cart from Kart Plaza, P100,000 from CICI General Insurance, a Yamaha motorcycle from Norkis, and roundtrip tickets to various foreign and local destinations.

The pin placement for the 13th hole yesterday was on the back part of the green on the right side.

The tournament is the club's annual member-guest event and is participated by close to 200 teams.

With the weather cooperating yesterday, better scores were turned in.

Early scores reported showed the pair of Blake Go and Mark Dy scoring 80 points on identical rounds of 40 points in the Modified Stableford Scoring System. The pair scored 70 points on their first round and has a total of 150.

The organizers were still collating the results as of presstime last night.

The team of Toby Florendo (37) and Mark Michael (38) scored 75. Each making 74 yesterday were the teams of Danilo Flores (40) and Boy Codoy (34) and Antonio Sikimhua (33) and Peter Yang (41).
