The tournament has drawn some of the top players aged 23 years old and under from the Visayas and Mindanao area.
This event serves as the final leg of the 2006 Vismin Youth Golf Circuit, which opened in Del Monte then moved to Bacolod before this tournament.
After this two-day tournament, the player of the year for the various age categories shall be honored. To earn the title, you must have the lowest aggregate score for your division after playing all three legs.
The event is made possible with the support of Da Vinci's Pizza, Fast Logistics, Birdies & Pars Golf Store, and ProGear Golf Makati.
Only 120 slots will be available for the event and competition will be under the boys and girls divisions in six age categories.
The special division is for players aged 18 to 23 years old while class A is for 15 to 17, B for 13 to 14, C for 11 to 12, D for 9 to 10, and E for 8 and under.
The competition will be for 36 holes for the Special, A, B, C, and D categories while it will be 18 holes (9 holes per day) for class E.
Players will have to tee off from different tee mounds, which will be properly marked.
Trophies and prizes will go to the champion and two runners-up for all age and gender classes.
In case of ties for the first place, this shall be settled via a sudden-death playoff starting on the first hole.
Ties for other places will be settled based on the following and in this order - score for the 18th hole, if still tied, the score for the last 9 holes, if still tied the score for the last 6 holes, the last 3 holes, then the final hole.
The committee has also put in place special rules for players in classes D and E.
The maximum score of theses two classes is 12 strokes for every hole. They must pick up the ball when playing for 12 or more strokes to help speed up the play.
If a player fails to cross a water hazard thrice, he or she shall be allowed to drop on the other side.
The junior golf program of Cebu Country Club has enjoyed tremendous success this year anchored on the double championship of 17-year-old Charles 'Chuckie" Hong, who won the club championship and the junior in a span of two weeks. - NLQ
