The Big Al's pedal pushing event is back after two years of silence, this time, not only with mountainbike but also with bmx and skateboarding on May 26-28 in a vacant lot at the Cebu Grand Hotel in Camputhaw.
Architect Alan Choachuy, who is also acting as race director, is organizing the Big Al's event as part of his contribution in the development of cycling and skateboarding here in Cebu.
The bmx and skateboarding will be divided in three classes namely open, juniors and novice class.
There will only be a supercross competition for bmx while skateboarders will be showcasing their wares in a ramp.
The mountainbike competition, the other hand, will be a circuit race featuring eight classes like the seniors, juniors, veterans, masters, golden boys, beginners, fat boys and executive level.
The national team riders will be riding under the senior division while female mountainbikers will be mixed with the male counterparts, depending upon their level of competitiveness.
The mountainbike competition will be a circuit race with 400 meters per lap. The race will be divided into heats with the championship round on the 28th. However, should there be a few number of entries in a certain class, their first run will also be the final run.
Cash prizes and trophies will be up for grabs for the winners of the event.
Registration starts on May 8. Three registration centers will be set up at the YKK Trading, all Tsibog outlets and at the Grand Hotel.
Entry fee in mountainbike will be P250 inclusive of an event jersey, certificate of finish and gift pack while the entry fee in the two other disciplines will be announced later together with the breakdown of prizes.
Only the first 100 registrants will be given the jersey and a personalized number bib in the event supported by Cebu Grand Hotel, Rocky Mountain Sports, Classical Touch, Dew Foam, Dura Brand, YKK Trading, GAP/Mobile and Toes.
