May 3, 2006 | 12:00am
Ladies division defending champion Queen City-Cebu Amateur Football Club hopes protect its throne when it collides against D' Davao Survivors in this afternoon's championship match at the University of San Carlos-Technology Campus in Talamban.
Queen City earned the championship ticket when it grabbed a 2-1 win against Cagayan de Oro in the semifinal battle yesterday
The action saw a tough battle against the Cebuanas and the Cagayan female booters especially that they are also the same squads, which saw action in the finals last year.
The Cebuanas posted the first goal in the first half but Cagayan's bets tallied the game at 1-all at the second half.
Queen City found another opportunity to score towards the end to get a chance to defend its crown.
Davao, on the other hand, silenced Mulbacks at 2-0 to meet Cebu's bets.
Mulbacks will be fighting for the third honors against Cagayan de Oro.
In the men's open, the anticipated final showdown between defending champion Hiroshi Football Club and West Negros College of Bacolod is not going to happen with both squads set to play against each other in the semifinals.
Hiroshi came up with a draw opposite the Queen City squad in the last elimination round assignment.
Queen City takes on Fugsport-Don Bosco College in the other semifinal action.
If Hiroshi and Fugsport-DBC wins in their respective games, its going to be a repeat of last's year's final showdown in the men's division of this Cebu Amateur Football Club-organized event.
