Defending champion Hiroshi Football Club suffered double misfortune at the start of the second edition of the Cebu Inter-Club Football Tournament at the Sacred Heart School-Jesuit Football field at the Cebu Business Park.
Hiroshi started rather low, losing to Fugsport, 2-1, in the men's open division.
It got hurt further when it lost to Don Bosco Technology Center, 1-3, in the 38-above division.
Hiroshi's Francis Ramirez showed off his skills, taking the first goal, 14 minutes down the game.
However, DBTC's Jose Mari Aberasturi answered back, 14 minutes after to even the game, 1-all, and another one came from Joey Catan before the first half ended to lift DBTC, 2-1.
Twelve minutes down the final half, Ramie Colina delivered another goal for DBTC to win the battle.
Another Cebu squad, Queen City United missed to take home the win after yielding to West Negros College of Bacolod, 2-3, even as visiting squad, Dumaguete City, got into the winner's column after posting a 4-1 win against Ormoc.
In the distaff side, last year's runner-up Cagayan de Oro pulled a 2-1 win against Ormoc.
The game saw both teams standing, 1-all, at the first half via the effort of Ormoc's Karen Jane Jumao-as and Malou Agura of CDO.
Agura added another goal for Cagayan, 45 minutes in the action that sealed her team's victory.
The other games scheduled yesterday were the battle between the San Roque Football Club and Mulback and Queen City United versus Ormoc in the 38-above class in this Cebu Amateur Football Club-organized event.
