Burgundy rules badminton to take the lead in VECOlympics 2006

The Burgundy Team takes the temporary lead after ruling the badminton event in the Visayan Electric Company's (VECO) 1st inter-color Badminton Open held recently at Quickshot Badminton Hub, Kimwa Compound in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Team Burgundy grabbed 20 points to get the spotlight after the pair of Valentin Saludes III and Dindo Villarba topped the premier Level A division of the badminton event.
In Level B, Robbie Marañon and Bryan Faelnar, representing the Hazel team emerged as champions, while George Balansag and Marven Ponce, also of Team Burgundy, bested the other contenders in Level C.
The runners-up of the different levels were Raul Lucero and Rico Racuya of Cyan for Level A; Marcelo Migue and Ian Fabian of Turquoise for Level B and Louella Bacasmas and Angel Valdezamo of Burgundy for Level C.
The badminton open, where players were grouped into levels A, B and C with level A as the highest and C as the lowest level, is one of the series of tournaments held in relation to the company's ongoing VECOLYMPICS.
As of April, Burgundy leads in the team standings with 20 points, tailed by Cyan with 19, Hazel with 15, Magenta with 11, Amber with 11 and Turquoise with six. An upcoming event is the volleyball tournament, which will be held this May.
