Cebu netters win big in Truflex tennis

Sally Mae Siso made another rousing finish as she collected two championship titles in the PHILTA-Truflex National Age-Group Tennis Championships at the Rizal Memorial Tennis courts yesterday.

A student from the University of San Carlos, Sally Mae Siso ruled both the 12-under and 14-under division for girls.

Sally Mae, sponsored by Dunlop and Atan Guardo, stunned top seed Sarah Jane Lim, 6-2, 6-3, to grab the 14-under division tiara.

She then proceeded with the 12-under finals where she went too much for Jasmine Tan Ho, 6-1, 6-1, to take her second title.

Meanwhile, Sally Mae's elder brother Niño redeemed himself to win the title in the 14-under division, drubbing Kim Saraza, 6-1, 7-5, 6-2.

Francis Largo of University of the Visayas also grabbed part of the limelight after ruling the boys 16-under division.

Largo overpowered Patrick Arevalo, 6-2, 6-3.

But it was not all glory for the Cebuanos as their youngest teammate Jacob Lagman failed to hang on and ended with the runner-up trophy.

The 10 year-old Lagman, who campaigned in the 12-under division, was defeated by Deo Talatayod, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
