San Roque Football Club edges Hiroshi FC to rule Ewald Denker Cup event

The San Roque Football Club of Subangdaku, Mandaue City bagged the title in last weekend's Ewald Denker Cup men's open at the MEPZ-I field in Lapu-Lapu City.
San Roque pulled a close 1-0 victory over the Hiroshi Under-18 squad in the final match of the tournament that played 15 minutes per half on a regular sized field.
Hiroshi U-18 settled for the second place honors while third place went to Queen City United Football Club, which also scored a close 1-0 win over FC Inter Cebu.
SRFC and Hiroshi U-18 finished with identical six points atop the five-team field after the elimination round. The two teams also fought to a 1-all draw in the eliminations.
Queen City was fourth in the standings with only three points despite a draw with third-ranked FC Inter Cebu after the elimination round as it lost to SRFC while settling for another draw with Hiroshi U-18.
The fifth team in the tournament, CSCST failed to advance after finishing at the bottom of the rankings in the eliminations.
Holger Retter, owner of Ewald Denker Precisionsmechanik Company, presented the trophies to the winners of the tournament, said Manfred Schuwerk of FC Inter Cebu.
Schuwerk said that their next tournament will be held on the same venue on April 23, but this time it will be for teams with players born not earlier than 1991. - NLQ
