Skimboarding enthusiasts around the country will troop to Surigao del Norte next month for the staging of the 1st Surigao National Skimboarding Competition set from May 13 to 14 in the municipality of Bacuag.
The provincial government of Surigao del Norte through the joint efforts of the Department of Tourism-Caraga, the Provincial and City Tourism Office, sponsored the now increasingly popular sport of skimboarding.
With the inspiration from no less than the provincial governor, Robert Lyndon Barbers who had been consistently supportive of such events, the organizing Coykiks Skimboards and Surigao Skimboarding Club assured the upcoming national invitational summer competition will once again be a success.
Aside from promoting a clean and green/drug fee Surigao, this water sport is also expected to boost the tourism industry in the province by highlighting its beautiful and pristine beaches, especially the "Tranquil Bay" in Bacuag.
Expected to take part in the event are skimboarders from Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Batangas and La Union among others.
