NAGT highlights Danao sports classic

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -
A weekend of sports spectacle is set to unfold in Danao City this Sunday with the holding of the Mayor Ramon "Nito" Durano III Summer Swim, Cycling and Running Classic as side events to the second leg of the 2006 SPEEDO-National Age-Group Triathlon (NAGT) series.

The Danao City Sports Commission is organizing the event to make the NAGT series more exciting and to maximize the participation of Danao residents.

The cycling event will be open to all pedal-pushers while the two other sporting events will be exclusive for Danao residents only.

The cycling competition will be a road race that will cover Danao to Lugo and back involving the racer and mountainbike.

There will be four regular classes and a special division for the differently-abled athletes.

The four classes set are the open, class B, C and golden boys.

The differently-abled athletes will have the wheel-chair battle but they will be negotiating a shorter distance.

Mountainbikers, on the other hand, will have classes A and B.

In swimming, there are three separate divisions namely the open, high school and elementary levels.

The third one will be the running competition also for Danao residents only.

The elementary level will be negotiating three kilometers while the high school and open division class will have five kilometers.

All the top three winners in the swimming and running events and the top five in the racer and mountainbike action will be awarded with cash prizes.
