Satina-Yu tandem stars anew for Class '94

The vaunted tandem of Anwar Satina and Wellington Yu once again sowed terror to power Dendramil Merchandizing '94 to a 71-63 triumph over Cebu Pacific Transport '99 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 8th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup on Friday at the CEC gym.

Satina banged in 22 points, six assists, and four rebounds, while Yu scored 20 points on top of 14 rebounds and three assists for Class '94, which used a fiery first half assault to notch its eight win against only one defeat.

Class '94 got off to a hot start to take an early 20-11 lead and then launched its second wave of attack via a 25-17 run to mount a 17-point advantage at halftime, 45-28.

Class '94, which also drew 12 points from Stanley Gaw, safely protected its double-digit edge after three quarters, 62-47, enough to quell a spirited endgame rally by Class '99.

Ruben Yap Jr. topped with 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals in an all-around show, while Albert Uy and Genseric Rowie Tan chipped in 16 and 15 markers, respectively, for Class '99, which slipped to 6-3.

Earlier, JV Bakeshop 2002 showed great team effort in pulling off a 65-58 victory over the listless Gregoria's Curtains and Trims Hau 2005.

Four players unloaded twin digits for Class 2002 led by Christopher Boltron with 14 points, 17 rebounds, and four assists.

David Chan also had 14 points and nine rebounds, while So and Kristropher Lloyd Miranda Sy combined for 21 points for Class 2002, which went strong in the first and third quarters to dispose off the youngest competing graduates.

Class 2002 raced to a 14-6 start and then made a 21-14 rally in the third canto to post a 15-point bulge, 47-32, heading into the final 10-minute mark of the contest.Class 2005 staged a game-closing 26-18 run, but time was not on its side as it crashed to its eight straight loss without a win to show.
